FAQs
How do I schedule with you?
Use the contact form below to get in touch!
What ages do you teach? What’s the best age to start lessons?
I teach swimmers of all ages, from infants to seniors. The best time to start is as early as infancy—ideally before six months—because babies still have natural water instincts from the womb. That said, it’s never too late to learn! I’ve worked with first-time swimmers of all ages, and with the right approach, anyone can gain confidence in the water.
What skill levels do you work with?
I work with swimmers of all experience levels, from those stepping into the water for the first time to competitive racers and marathon swimmers looking to refine their technique. Whether you’re learning the basics or training for a high-stakes event, I tailor lessons to meet your specific needs.
How long have you been teaching?
I’ve been teaching swimming for over 30 years, helping thousands of students gain confidence and skill in the water.
Do you offer private, semi-private, or group lessons?
Yes, I offer all three! Private lessons provide one-on-one instruction, semi-private lessons allow two students to learn together, and group lessons create a dynamic learning environment with multiple swimmers. We can discuss what works best for you.
Where do the lessons take place?
Most lessons take place in private backyard pools, but I can accommodate other arrangements depending on location and availability. If you have a specific pool in mind, let’s talk!
Do you teach adults who have a fear of water?
Absolutely. I specialize in helping adults overcome water anxiety, even those with past traumatic experiences. Many of my students who once feared swimming now enjoy snorkeling, scuba diving, and open-water activities. With patience, trust, and a customized approach, anyone can build confidence in the water.
Do I need to be in the water with my child?
That’s entirely up to you! Some parents find it helpful to be in the water for added comfort, especially for younger children, but it’s not required. I structure lessons to ensure that each child feels safe and supported, whether a parent is in the pool or watching from the side.
What if my child has special needs or a medical condition?
Every swimmer is unique, and I tailor lessons to individual abilities. I have training in teaching students with disabilities and special needs, and I adapt my methods to ensure a safe and positive learning experience. If your child has a medical condition, we can discuss their specific needs and the best approach for their lessons.
Can I book lessons for a group of friends?
Yes! Group lessons are a great way for friends to learn together in a fun, social setting. Let me know how many people you have in mind, and we can design a lesson plan that suits everyone’s skill levels.
Do you offer lifeguarding?
Yes, I provide lifeguarding services for private events, pool parties, and gatherings. If you need a trained professional to ensure safety at your event, I’m happy to help.
